Description

A person who can go through multiple losses, play sports, and be passionate about her work is a truly great person to be around; that person is Luanne Regis. Luanne is a black woman from Trinidad & Tobago, in the Caribbean, a mother, an aunt, and a wonderful person. She was born in the early 60s, and grew up in Trinidad with a family of 5, having lost her mother at just 8 years of age. Luanne played a sport based off of British traditions called netball, soccer, and high jump in track. She has now become an agent, and is working hard every day. Specifically around 3:30, she talks about the hardest loss of her life, being her nephew dying at 15. This was one of the toughest parts of her life, but she got through it and is still going through tough losses. It was important that I interviewed her, rather than anybody else, because her story is fascinating, and her life story is an easier way to understand her path. Luanne is a strong woman, and I’m proud to call her my mom.
