Across the Pacific

Nobody could understand my mum when she first arrived in the United States. I am Alice Connolly (14) and I interviewed my mum Paula Connolly (52) in Los Angeles, California on January 6, 2020 about her immigration to the United States from Australia. Paula Connolly immigrated to the United States in 1999 so she could further her career. It was very interesting to listen to her talk about what it was like to immigrate during the sixth minute. We talked about where her family is from, what country she is from, where she grew up and what it was like, when she immigrated, who and what she left behind, her experience, why she immigrated, what she expected America to be like, and how people treated her.
