Amanda Penny and Sean Penny

Amanda (A) asks Sean (S) why he joined the military. He has a suspended license and warrants out and couldn't afford college.

At start of military experience, S was married to someone else, and had a baby with a different person. Came back from Iraq with a baby that had just been born, said that he ran to the baby in the airport like a commercial.

S says that life post Iraq was in shambles. Because he was being unfaithful to his then wife, she took all his money and all his friends had left the area.

S talks about a halloween themed birthday party he had and they booked a punk band. S starts going to night school, working construction, learning Spanish.

S starts working at a mortuary where he picks people up, per diem, who had just died. S also talks about how military impacted him socially, and how it impacted others mentally.

S shares how he would pick up the embalmer on his way to work and she would buy 100 proof vodka and drink before her shift, and would wear her respirator while embalming so nobody could tell/ smell it. S also shares meeting A at this job, remembers her exact outfit.

S grew up without a biological father, which drove him to be the best dad he could be. Shares stories about how his son is a better kid than he was at that age (shares that he spray painted a teachers house).

S and A talk about their relationship and impact on each other. A cries, they are both very proud of each other.
