Description

Tara (34) and Amanda Hughey (26) interview their grandparents, William(87) and Jean L. Hughey (85), about growing up during the depression, memories of World War II, their courtship and marriage, and favorite life memories.

Subject Log / Time Code

W walked to school as a young boy. There was no school busses at the time. He grew up in Memphis Tennessee. He remembers the Great Depression, but didn't remember it as this overly sad time because nobody had anything and there was nothing to compare it to.
W's childhood home was 2 story. It had no air conditioning and had a 13-window sleeping porch. The whole family would sleep out there in the summer time.
J talks about the happiest moments in her life including the birth of her children and grandkids.
