Bill Healy (32) speaks to the Global Vice President of Walgreens, Steve Pemberton (48). Steve reflects on his childhood and what it was like to enter foster care at the age of three years old. Additionally, he depicts the people that helped him achieve his goal of going to college.

S's birth mother was dealing with alcoholism when he was young. His father was a boxer. S recalls how he was always confused about his identity.
S entered foster care at the age of 3 years old. He doesn't recall any memories of his mother other than when he was taken from her.
S recalls his stay at the first foster parents that took him in. There was one time when he refused to get into the car with them and they left him on his own for an entire day.
At the age 5, S's birth father was murdered. S explains that his father fell into drugs after he failed to qualify for the Olympics.
S recalls that school was his sanctuary. He remembers that he loved to read.
S explains that a college prep program helped him to achieve his goal of going to college. The program director, Ruby, was his biggest advocate. She wanted to see him go to college.
S recalls other people in his life that helped him during hard times.
S explains that his foster family fought hard to make sure he didn't college. Finally, after his foster father beat him up for speaking to a social worker, S left home and ended up living with his high school teacher for his last year of high school.
S explains what Christmas means to him.
