Subject Log / Time Code

S grew up in the Philippines. Her family was living with her uncle for a little bit, but he eventually kicked them out. Then they moved to their family farm and built a small house to live in. S recalls playing with her neighbors. They had a television, so they would watch Mickey Mouse.
S recalls her relationships with her parents. Her father was always working, so she didn't see him a lot. She spent a lot of time with her mother and they became close.
S remembers when her parents told her that had saved some money and they could either spend it on her education or use to build a bigger house for the family. They decided they would spend it on S and her brother's education.
S explains the process of moving to the United States to work as a nurse. She recalls that the first thing she bought was a radio.
S recalls that she was treated differently because she was from a different country. Her coworkers wouldn't listen to her and say racist things to her.
J recalls that her and S would fight a lot when she was younger. J believes they fought because they were bought raised in two different cultures. S explains that she was afraid that J would become pregnant before she was married, which was seen as very disgraceful in the Philippines.
S explains what she hopes for J.
