Dami Ayandipo (19) from Ashburn, VA, and Virginia Warren (19) from Midlothian, VA participated in this One Small Step conversation as part of their Public Service Pathways 1-credit UNST course at UVA. Both students have immigrant backgrounds; Dami’s family is from Nigeria, and Virginia’s family moved from Canada to the United States when she was young. Dami describes her views as more liberal, and identifies health care and childhood education as important issues to her. Virginia describes her views as moderate/conservative and shares her interest in civic engagement and national security issues. They describe their interactions across different beliefs with peers at UVA, and share their personal goals relating to public service.
