In this interview on November 29th, 2020 in Tijeras, New Mexico, Julianna McDonald (17) interviews her grandma, Elaine West (74) as she reflects about her childhood and breaking through her own barriers later in her life through her inspiring interracial marriage and the relationships she developed with others. She shares about the influences of her childhood and reflects about her changing perspective throughout her life during civil rights movements in the 60s and 70s, such as the Women’s Movement, and her own marriage. She talks about her experience from her early childhood, where she moved around the county with her family for her fathers job, to high school, college, and into starting a family.
