This One Small Step conversation was recorded in Charlottesville, Virginia as part of the Sorensen Institute’s summer High School Leaders Program in 2023. Eleanor Ague (17) is from McLean and Ben Lashley (17) is from Chesterfield. They discuss their parents' influence on their upbringing and share their first memories of politics. Ben recalls getting into arguments with classmates about defending President Trump in late elementary school, and Eleanor talks about learning from other perspectives while being moderate. The two share their thoughts on the ideological spectrum and polarization in Congress and at their high schools.
