Eliza Piché (19) from Austin, TX, and Isabela Barton (19) from Austin, TX participated in this One Small Step conversation as part of their Public Service Pathways 1-credit UNST course at UVA. The pair were friends before their recording but got the opportunity to learn more about one another's backgrounds and beliefs. Eliza grew up in the Christian faith but describes how after the sudden passing of her father, she has grown away from religion. Isabela shares her interest in data equity and discusses how modern technology can exacerbate existing injustices. Both students recount political conflicts within their families; Eliza’s parents and sister over Democratic politics, and Bela with her grandfather about President Trump.
