Description

[Recorded: Tuesday, February 20, 2024]
UVA students Emma Blumberg (19) from Long Island, New York, and Femi Shaikh (20) from Lorton, Virginia recorded a One Small Step conversation as part of their course Democracy and Public Service. During this conversation, they focused on political issues such as gun laws, abortion laws, and medical ethics. These topics were of particular interest to them as women in the US as well as students in college. Their conversation was very civil, as they agreed on their standpoints for these issues, which mostly fell left of center. They also discussed the impact of social media and "jumping on the bandwagon" for many political issues, and how they thought that contributes to today's divided society.
