Eva Ho (48) talks with her friend, Trevor Peterson (47) about her life - her early years, first in Mozambique, then in Boston, and her journey to her current work in tech. She also reflects on her philanthropy, and her recent return to Mozambique.

EH shares some of her background, she was born in Mozambique, the child of a Chinese immigrant. Her family fled to the U.S. as the Mozambican civil war broke out; they arrived Boston, MA with little money.
EH recalls her early schooling in the United States after having never attended school due to the war in Mozambique. Ultimately, she went on to attend Boston Latin School.
EH’s family owned a restaurant outside Fenway Park. She remembers her father’s entrepreneurial abilities, the way that they shaped her.
EH reflects on her years in Harvard. “Even though it was a few miles from where I are up, it was a world away,” she says
EH went into the tech industry after she graduated college. She talks about the journey. “It’s really a lot of luck and a lot of great people around me,” she says.
EH talks about her passion for social issues, particularly opportunities for women, and minority communities in tech. She describes an organization which she started with her colleagues to redress these issues and her work with the California Community Foundation.
EH offers more reflection on women in tech, how female founders have a commitment to problem solving; the activism that’s happening around the value of women at work. She also talks about women’s representation as a fiduciary responsibility.
EH remembers going to Mozambique last year, the first time since her family fled. She remembers finding her father’s farm.
While on the trip, EH learned she has a brother who lives in Mozambique. She talks about meeting him.
EH has yet to tell her mother about her relationship with her brother.
