In 1990, I convinced my grandfather Fritz Häber to sit down at his home in Zwickau for a tape-recorded interview. I asked him mostly about our family’s history, but in between stories, he talked about his war experience and his imprisonment as a POW. During the interview, he showed me records of his writing, including the diary, in which he had documented memorable episodes of his life.
