This One Small Step mini-conversation was recorded in Charlottesville, Virginia as part of the Sorensen Institute’s summer High School Leaders Program in 2023. Garrett Fulks (17) is from Kingwood and Om Sharma (16) is from Mt. Vernon. Both share conservative values, but come from different cultural backgrounds. Om describes how people assume he is liberal because he is from a minority community in Northern Virginia. Garrett shares how growing up in a rural, Christian community shaped his values.
