Description

Here we talk about a close friend that was involved with drug abuse.
Hello how are you doing today? I’m doing good. My name is Jy’Asia and I'm going to be interviewing you on a friend or family member who has been involved with drugs. Okay. Are you okay with that? Yes I am. Alright, if at any point in time you feel like you need to stop or you know take a pause you are welcome to. Okay. Alright so first question, who was the person misusing drugs in your family? It was a good friend of mine. Okay, did they ever lie about their addiction to any family members? Did they lie to any of their family members? Or like you know, friends, did they ever lie about it? Yea they did, they tried to deny it I guess, you know? Did you or anyone else in your family see them misuse drugs? Yes, yes, yes! Okay, did they ever steal from the family to get money for their addiction? Well I don’t know. Or friends! Well I don’t know personally off hand but I have heard that they have done that so I would say yes. Never stole from you or anything? No, never stole from me. Okay, how did their addiction affect their family or close friends? It affected them by you know, I guess not being honest and you know just not being themselves. Yea, I bet they kind of felt betrayed? Yea I guess, a lot of people went against them after they found out so… How did their addiction affect your relationship with them? Well with me personally, i’m going to keep it real with you, it didn’t affect me that much because it’s a close friend, so you try not to judge it really but like I said I knew they were using so.. but that’s a close friend so I try not to judge it. How did you cope with the situation? I coped with just trying to be there for them, you know what I mean and you know at times try to talk them out of certa things and you know just try to be there for them. That’s good , did they ever get into any fights or arguments with family members? Absolutely. Okay, did anyone try to help them with their addiction? Yes they did. What, like family? Yes family, myself… Was there anything or anyone who helped you personally deal with the situation of your friend using drugs? Not really, not in a positive way, no. A lot of people didn’t want me to be friends with them anymore. Because of the drug use? Yes because of the drug use. Okay, would you or your family help them again? Yes absolutely. That’s good. Is there anything you wish you could go back and change? Go back and change as far as what? You know, is there anything you wish could have been different? Well I wish they wouldn’t have went through what they went through but I guess it turned out for the best because they’re a better person now. That’s good. Is there anything you wish you could have said to them? Yes actually, yes. Have they regained you or your families' trust at all? They always had my trust, you know what I mean, as far as other people I guess they’re still working on it but as far as me, yes they have, I’ve always been there, the trust has always been there. So last question, was there anything that stuck with you throughout the experience? Yes. What was that? Actually my friend almost passed away so that stuck with me a lot. Did you like, see it happen? I seen it happen, yes I did, I witnessed it so that stuck with me still until this day. I imagine that was hard? Very hard. Are they clean now? They’re clean now, everything is good now. Wow that’s awesome, great way to end! Thankyou for talking with me. Thankyou!
