Interview With Teta Anissa Tarabay (aka Teta Annousse)

Description

This was an interview between us (Pierre & Mario -son and father, respectively) here in Atlanta, Georgia and Pierre’s great-grandma (Teta Annousse) in Lebanon with Sousou (Mario’s aunt) to assist her. If you weren’t able to figure it out, we are not only doing this through a call because of the obvious distance that separates us, however due to COVID-19 we are unable to visit without putting ourselves or them in danger. Mario was the main translator throughout. We felt the need to conduct this interview as Annousse, being the beloved family member she is and a living monument, might want to shed light into her younger years. She is now 96 and of course has more and more difficulty in remembering things- something you may have noticed. Anyhow, her memories, rather her memory, will hopefully be remembered in the following years thanks to this recording. (Also, we forgot to record her experience during WWII, however we know she wasn’t impacted much due to the seclusion of her village).
