Description

Jan Carlton (83) speaks to her step-granddaughter Alyssa Ahnell (17) about having big dreams, love, traveling, cooking, and all the people that she has met along the way. EDIT: Jan wanted to add how her final husband, Warren, went on to become a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and was a “Renaissance Man” until the end. She also wanted to clarify her ancestral background of Welsh/English origin with her paternal side also coming from Southeast Sweden who came to America for railroad work and a better life, her Great Grandpa Heller owned a cigar shop on Wabash Ave in Chicago in the 1900s. Also it is unsure of whether her great grandmother came as a baby or as a 16 year old seamstress from Berlin, Germany. Being born in the Great Depression instilled values of hard work and ethics in Jan and Warren that she believed drove their achievements throughout their lives.
