(Track 1) Tracy Kelly Solheim says she was born at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, South Carolina. She recalls moving around a lot.
Tracy remembers living in Biloxi, Mississippi. She says the schools there were just starting to integrate.
Tracy remembers her dad being sent to work for the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon. She says her dad deployed to Korea during her freshman year of college.

Tracy talks about her time writing reports for Congress. She describes it as mostly tire kicking. She remembers an experience with ranchers wanting to euthanize wild horses.
Tracy remembers witnessing a program where prison inmates learn to work with and tame the wild horses. She says the program still exists today.
Tracy remembers writing her first book while on vacation. She says her favorite book is always the one that's about to come out.
