Laura Volk and Joe Roscoe delighted Fearrington StoryCorps Listener, Susie Eckblad with remarkable stories of their forty-five marriage - filled with “many blessings” and “no complaints.” After just 10 weeks of marriage, Joe’s diagnosis of Hodgkins lymphoma tested their courage - but from that start grew a remarkable level of cooperation, trust and love. The learnings from that experience saw Joe grow from a talented carpenter with a rusty truck into a highly respected social psychology research professor focusing on best practices for the mitigation of cancer treatment side effects. He gives credit to Laura’s extraordinary skills of personal encouragement, guidance and social cooperation.
