[Recorded: Tuesday, March 14th, 2023]Leena (20) and Diana (16) participated in the Karsh Institute of Democracy's first international One Small Step conversation. Leena is a second-year undergraduate student at UVA, and Diana is a high school student from currently based in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Leena is a student in Professor Steve Parks' Democratic Futures course, and Diana is a student activist who fled her home in Mariupol when Russia invaded Ukraine in early 2022. Diana shares her experience navigating the war and getting deeply involved in humanitarian assistance in her city. Leena shares about her experience living abroad and the lessons she learned about open-mindedness.
