Shelton Woods (60) talks with his mother Faye Woods (87) about her experience growing up in Uniontown, PA and her experience in the Woman's Army Corps, which was extremely meaningful to Faye.

SW asks FW what it was like to be a kid in Uniontown, PA and FW says in 1951 she joined the army.
FW talks about what made her decide to join the army and wanting to get out of Uniontown.
FW says her father didn't want her to go to the army because she was a woman and describes how she convinced him to let her go.
FW says she loved the army and still remembers her army number.
FW recalls that they weren't allowed to say "war" in regards to the Korean War, only "police action".
FW describes working in the hospital at Fort Devens.
FW describes how she met her future husband and SW's father and describes the first time she saw him.
FW says that the army let you go as soon as they found out you were pregnant and that due to her pregnancy she had to end her service.
MR asks FW if she had the opportunity to be deployed during her time of service, would she have taken it, and FW says she would have gone to war had it been an option.
