Lucia Mello talks about diversity, equity and inclusion in Waldorf education.

Description

Lucia Mello was born and grew up in Brazil and moved to the US with her husband in 1989. She got her Waldorf Teacher Training in Sao Paulo and at Sunbridge College NY and completed her Masters Degree in Special Education at Bank Street College in New York City. Lucia taught at the Rudolf Steiner School for 12 years before moving to Portland with her family in 2001. From 2003 to 2005, she was lead teacher of Morning Star Kindergarten - PWS’s SW satellite location at the Multnomah Arts Center. Over the years, Lucia has completed trainings in Social Justice Teaching, Restorative Justice, Courageous Conversation and Equity, as well as receiving a HANDLE certificate. She has attended many conferences and participates actively in the Portland Anthroposophical Branch. Since 2007, Lucia has been a lead kindergarten teacher at Portland Village School - a public Waldorf charter school in north Portland.
