Description

My name is Mary Sonnen. I graduated from Archbishop Murray Memorial High School in 1962 and the College of St. Catherine in 1966. I have a Bachelor of Science degree, Nursing being my focus. Upon graduation and certification as a Registered Nurse, I worked at St. Joseph's Hospital Intensive Care Unit (1966-1968) and moved to the Public Health Department in St. Paul (1968-2008). I worked there as a school nurse, clinical public health nurse, nurse practitioner, and Clinical Program Section Manager. Much of my job consisted of securing funding for clinical health programs. This was accomplished by writing grant applications to private, local, state, and federal organizations. My hobbies are gardening, knitting, and any activity involving my love of dogs. I am currently 79 years old, have a part-time job, and am dedicated to volunteering. My family, education, and life experiences have helped me recognize my personal strengths and helped me find ways to practice them.
