Charlie Bryant (99) tells his granddaughter Kenyatta Hills (32) about his life working as a farmworker and truck driver, about his love of God, and his love of cooking.

CB says he was a child on a farm near Havanna FL. At 13 he left home moved from city to city in search of work. He says he raised himself. He lists the names of his parents and 15 siblings.
CB says that he had a loving family. They did not have much leisure time. They worked to live. The main object was survival. His favorite sibling was his sister Julia who was good to him after his mother died.
CB describes himself as a young man as a "charmer." He had red hair.
CB talks about the lessons he has learned in life and his family's traditions of honesty and faithfulness to God. He talks about getting blessings from God instead of from men. He is a Baptist but says all religions are probably true.
CB says he has had a good life and never been sick. He says being a night owl is not good for you.
CB talks about traveling for work as a young man. Says he'd like to see Apple Valley CA and Chicago one more time. He worked many different jobs in factories, fields, and packing houses.
(approx.) CB mentions one friend he made on the road. The last time they saw each other was 1939, when he took a train to Gainesville, and his friend took a train somewhere else.
