Description

Story of one of my oldest aunts who came here from Ixmiquilpan, Mexico about 33 years ago. A quick summary of what we speak on, she tells me how she got here, and why, with the reason being to support my family by working. She tells me of her childhood. How she made sacrifices for my aunts, uncles, and even dad by leaving school so they had a chance to an education. After my grandparents death she took the responsibility of taking care of her siblings, and even bringing them over here to take care of and look after. She speaks of the hardships she had trying to find work here to support our family in Mexico. She tells me more of my grandparents, of how they were. Sadly she couldn’t tell many stories as she couldn’t think of at the moment but she summarizes her life and key moments from being in Mexico to making it over to the US. She ends with a message for the next generation, she advises us, to always have a goal, and to continue studying.
