Description

Stepping foot on JOIDES Resolution as a graduate student and the youngest scientist on the ship, Kristin Dickerson wasn't sure what to expect as she joined Expedition 399 (Building Blocks of Life, Atlantis Massif). Right away, she was struck with the mentoring and support, and how it was clear that everyone on the ship was invited to be a scientist of an incredibly interdisciplinary science party. Take a listen to hear about her experience at sea, where she describes everything from her nerves to the excitement of being on the JR.

(Photo provided by Kristin Dickerson, when the JR hit 1000 meters depth. Kristin says it was "one of the most fun and exciting moments of my science career so far, breaking world records...")
