Description

People of the Rio Grande Valley Border Towns: Cristina Garza, Program Director of the Mission EDC and creator of the Expert In Residence program says part of the Mission CEED co-working space's mission is "...to create an infrastructure for people to grow into people we want to see." Cristina envisions younger Mission residents being involved in the success of their community and involved in their educational tools available through Mission CEED. Cristina talks about her experience in the art world, and how it was when she was required to create artwork similar to her field of study Italian Early Modern Art, that her interest peaked. Drawing the correlation between her experiences abroad and the Expert Artist In Residence to Mission, the community would have a similar experience right in their own hometown. Cristina modestly says she hopes to be remembered as a mentor, " I feel so passionate that people who work under me or for me to know that I will do anything for them to succeed." Cristina speaks about some of her other programs at the Mission EDC like the Ruby Red adventures, "People have great ideas and they just need a little bit of funding. This can help with that."
