Siblings Sally Donlon (69) and Jon Donlon (72) recall growing up in downtown Lafayette and their favorite childhood memories.

Sally (S) and Jon (J) discuss their childhoods in Lafayette, Louisiana.

S recalls the first time she encountered the concept of murder.

J remembers when he was a kid and went out to watch a construction site and his family thought he had gone missing.

S talks about a "maiden aunt" who lived with her. S describes how she would convince her brothers to hang out with her.

S and J talk about a neighborhood lot where all the kids from the community would hang out.

S and J say the way their parents raised them granted them a lot of independence. They talk about a Black Baptist church next door to their house.

J and S recall playing on building rooftops as kids.

S and J discuss the concept of "eyes on the street" and how everyone looked out for each other where they grew up.

S and J say they and their siblings always tell each other they love one another when they speak.

S expresses gratitude for her brothers and their spouses. J says he admires S.
