Sam talks about growing up in a mostly white neighborhood where most everybody went to the Catholic School. He shares the death of his father when he was two and the strength of his mother raising children, stressing the importance of family.
Sarah shares her experiences growing up with a Catholic father and Jewish mother. She reflects upon how things are passed down and in terms of what we inherit and what we choose to foster.

Sarah remembers growing up feeling lost in all the different viewpoints available to her. She now considers herself to be agnostic, finding more spirituality in nature than in man-made structures.
Sam shares his experience suffering from an undiagnosed serious illness, and the guidance he found through prayer leading towards diagnosis and healing.
Sam shares his frustration with the politics of Democrats and Republicans and doesn't see the division the media reports. He believes in the Constitution. He doesn't see unity.
Sarah talks about her gender non-conforming children. Sam is against his daughter competing athletically against people assigned men at birth. He tells a "joke."
Sarah expresses that she doesn't have the answers, but she is open to different cultures and genders.
Sam thinks non-binary people are confused and doesn't understand why the culture says it's ok now when it didn't used to be ok and is willing to take a stand on this.
Sam recognizes that they have a lot of similarities and differences but that as a more mature person can take a full stand.
Sarah values that he takes a strong stance but also stresses openness.
