Stephen Barbuto (48) talks with his mother Nancy Mikkelsen (82) about her life growing up on Prince Edward Island in Canada, Nancy's college experience, recollections of her family life, and how proud she is of her children.

NM talks about being born in 1938 on a dairy farm on Prince Ewdand what it was like growing up on the farm.
NM describes her parents, after describing her siblings.
NM describes herself as a child, says she was studious and that her family was fairly religious.
NM describes some of her best memories as a kid, some of which surrounded music which was abundant in her family. She also comments that she played the piano, played Celtic music, and accompanied her father.
NM says she was a 15 year old freshman in college.
NM talks about teaching in the sciences for 3 years in Toronto and that afterwards she went to get her master's degree at the University of Toronto.
NM talks about meeting her husband.
NM talks about life in Genesee, Idaho.
NM says her mother was the biggest influence in her life and that she passed away when NM was 24, and NM describes what life was like for awhile after she passed.
NM says it was a privilege to be with her mom throughout her last weeks of life.
NM says she regrets not being as sensitive to her children when their father passed away.
NM says the proudest thing in her life was helping her children “survive” and do well, get educated and seem happy and says she would like to be remembered as someone who despite misgivings, as someone who tried her best.
NM gives advice to be more outgoing and take opportunities and that people can do a lot more than they think they can.
