ML says that her biggest influences were her mother and grandmother, because they were both single working moms. HL says her mom is her biggest influence.
ML and HL discuss the impact KIPP has had on their family. HL talks about some of the friends she met through the school. ML talks about how HL’s friends are great, and she treats them like her own kids.
ML reflects on her dreams for her children — she wants her kids to find a career that they like and to be successful and happy. ML remembers some of the dreams she had as a kid, especially to work with children.

HL says that in middle school she was bullied, but when she got to KIPP, she built connections with teachers and got access to helpful resources.
HL remembers having a strict teacher say that she was good at math, which really sparked confidence in her.
ML says that the love and care that she shows her nephews has been so consistent. ML says that everyone loves HL.
