TC talks about finding her purpose again after her children finished college. She talks about her mental health struggles and how she was able to find herself again.
WL shares how she went from being a physical therapist to a pastor. She shares how she was working with someone who was near death and realized that the patient needed care for her spirit.
TC talks about her first child, AC, came out as gay and nonbinary. She has been accepting of AC but has learned a tremendous amount about how to be supportive.
WL asks TC about her mourning during AC's transition. TC speaks honestly about how she did feel loss at first but recognizes that this is not a loss or learning a new person, but AC being their true self.
WL asks TC if religion has been a pain point when it comes to LGBTQ+ issues. TC agrees and says the Catholic church in particular has not been accepting of AC and other LGBTQ+ folks.
TC asks if WL is ever called to have a stance on certain issues in her role as a pastor. She shares how she was conflicted since she grew up very conservative but had a compassionate spirit as a pastor. She was faced with acknowledging the issues with homophobia in the church and unlearning her conservative ideas.
TC asks WL about her stance on not wanting Timothy McVeigh executed although she lost her father in the OKC bombings. WL shares that she recognized how he was a broken person and that the death penalty was not something she believed in.
