Description

Aaron Piña is the National Program Lead for Atmospheric Sciences and Fire Weather Research at the United States Forest Service where he runs a research program that helps transition knowledge into the hands of decision makers around the world. Initially a theater major, a chance encounter in college with a meteorologist from the National Weather Service drew Aaron into the vast worlds of atmospheric science, science communication, and science policy. He sat down with us to talk about his current work with the USFS, his shift from the arts to the sciences, and why putting a face to science is important for community engagement.
