Douglas M. Yeager (78) interviews friend of several years Tracy N. Thomas (53) to discuss the founding and operation of a veterinarian practice focused on helping senior citizen pet owners. The practice is called Ender Pet Care and is located in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Doug introduces Tracy as a very unusual Veternarian who founded Elder pet care. Affordable veterinary care for those who cannot go to other clinics because the cost is too high
Tracy explains the origin of Elder Pet care. Founded in 1994. And is 501 C non profit. Business for seniors over the age of 55. Cost is based on income. Discounts range from 10-75% and sponsor 2 pets per senior.
Tracy says there are 5,000 clients per year and the organization runs entirely through grants.
Tracy lists that the grants are received from Fort Collins community foundations, the Wal-Mart company, Petco, Ann Shoots Family Foundation, The Group Organization and Rotary clubs.

Tracy says that over 20 students have volunteered.
Tracy talks about Shammy, a dog found running down the highway and was brought into the clinic to be cleaned, neutered. Eldery lady was having issues at home and she thought Shammy would help the lady’s husband who was suffering from Alzheimer’s.
Tracy talks about Curly, a dog that came to clinic with her sister Mo who has had Parvo disease. Their owners could not afford to take care of them so they were surrendered to the clinic. They were taken care of and became ready for adoption. A man with a little Pomeranian came in. The Pomeranian had died during the night and the clinic gave him Curly
Tracy discusses a program provided funding for them to provide pets to seniors and funded their healthcare. Sparky was placed with a woman. Sparky was a poodle cross. A year later she became too old and was given to her sister.
